It’s just ten weeks until the Sochi Olympics, and Lindsey Vonn is down once more with a knee injury.
The best U. S. hope for several gold medals—and the Olympic favorite in the downhill—partially tore her previously reconstructed ACL, one of the knee’s most important ligaments, during a crash while training. She also suffered a mild sprain in other ligaments in the same right knee.
Information is still sketchy. Vonn flew back to Colorado from Europe for evaluation, but the swelling and bruising will need a few days to subside before she can be accurately diagnosed.
Vonn tore her knee apart in a crash last February, and has worked constantly to make the knee stable enough to ski at the Olympic level again.
