The U. S. Ski and Snowboard team is looking for a few good athletes, just in time for the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. You don’t even have to know how to ski or snowboard.
Here’s the press release telling how you can get invited to a tryout camp—and if you make it, be trained to do your tricks on snow and perhaps even become part of the U. S. Olympic team. Send a video of yourself in action QUICK! The deadline is NOW.
The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association is looking for future Olympic acrobatic athletes ages under the age of 19 to participate in our Elite Aerial Development Program (EADP) in Lake Placid, NY or our Western Development Aerial Program Fly Freestyle in Park City, UT.
The EADP has converted retired acrobatic athletes from sports like gymnastics, trampoline, diving, tumbling, etc (that can’t necessarily ski) into Olympic athletes in the sport of aerial skiing! U.S. Olympian Ashley Caldwell made it to the Olympic final in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games after only two years in the EADP.
Athletes over 13 and parents of athletes under 13, share your best acrobatic tricks and you could earn an invitation to try out for the EADP. Submit a YouTube video or Vimeo alongside the U.S. Ski Team community including Olympic champions Lindsey Vonn, Shaun White and Gretchen Bleiler.
It doesn’t matter if you are a gymnast, diver, trampoline athlete, tumbler or just plain acrobatic, we would love to see your video!
What if you are selected for the tryout camp? You will be invited to our Park City, UT (June 17-22, 2013) or Lake Placid, NY (June 23-30, 2013) to try out for a spot on our Elite Air Development Program. Written parental or guardian consent must be provided. Parents and coaches are welcome to attend most activities at the camps
Selection will be based on votes, ratings and coach’s discretion. Get as creative as you like and share your story – the world is waiting! GO USA and good luck!
