The freestyle World Cup and Olympic qualifier at Deer Valley this week cinched Hannah Kearney’s slot as the number one female mogul skier in the world. She won Saturday’s final mogul comp, her 7th consecutive win on the DV course. Yulia Galysheva was 2nd. She’s from Kazakhstan, a large Central Asian country which shares borders with both China and Russia. It has a surprising presence in the sport of freestyle. Canadian Maxime Dufour-Lapointe was third.
Two Canadians took men’s moguls top spots. Alex Bilodeau was first, teammate Mikael Kingsbury second. Alexandr Smyshlyaev of Russia was third, while American Patrick Deneen was whisker-close in fourth, with 23.70 points to Smyshlyaev’s 23.80.
